Uvumbuzi is a local Kenyan environmental conservation lobbying society formed in 1983. Founder members of Uvumbuzi were formerly active members of Wildlife Clubs of Kenya in their schools.They desired to form a post-high school organization in which they would continue to engage in the promotion of cycling as a Non- motorized means of transport, to participate in wildlife and environmental conservation activities. It is with this background the name Uvumbuzi derived from the Swahili word "Vumbua" meaning to discover was established.
